Intraoral Scanner & Implant Scan Body
After your implant has fully integrated with the bone, the next step is capturing a precise digital impression of the implant position. We use a handheld intraoral scanner — a wand that glides over your teeth and emits structured light to build a photorealistic 3D model of your entire arch in real time.
A scan body (also called a scan abutment) is placed on the implant before scanning. This small precision component has a unique geometric shape that the scanner software recognizes — allowing it to calculate the exact 3D position, depth, and angulation of the implant platform. The result is a digital impression accurate to within 10 micrometers — far more precise than traditional putty impressions.
Scan Body Placement
A precision scan body (scan abutment) is placed on the implant. Its unique geometry tells the scanner software the exact 3D position and orientation of the implant platform.
Intraoral Scanning
The wand-shaped scanner is moved over the teeth and scan body. Structured light or laser captures millions of data points per second, building a photorealistic 3D mesh of the entire arch.
Digital Impression
The scan is sent digitally to the dental lab. No physical impression material needed — eliminating distortion, gagging, and the discomfort of traditional impressions.
Virtual Crown Design
The lab uses CAD/CAM software to design the crown digitally, using the scan body data to ensure the crown fits the implant platform with micron-level precision.
Milled or Printed Crown
The crown is milled from a solid block of zirconia or ceramic, or 3D printed, then glazed and fired. The result is a restoration that fits perfectly on the first try.
